Your Business Loan Guy was born after a lifetime of banking, broking and legal experience. It was started by Shaun Lawson in 2025.
After more than 20 years in banking — including just shy of 16 years with NAB and further senior roles at Bankwest and Westpac as a Commercial lender — Director Shaun Lawson obtained his Diploma of Finance and Mortgage Broking Management in 2015 and transitioned into mortgage and commercial finance broking.
After many years advising clients directly as a broker, Shaun applied his lending and structural expertise in a different setting, supporting his wife’s Family Law practice, as Practice Manager.
This role provided first-hand exposure to the intersection of finance, legal structure and client decision-making, particularly in complex and time-sensitive matters.
This combination of deep banking knowledge, broking experience and practical involvement inside a law firm underpins the approach behind Your Business Loan Guy today, a broker who genuinely understands the problems business owners face — because he’s seen them from the bank, broker and business side.

Shaun Lawson - Husband • Father • Cricket & Aussie Rules tragic
Shaun’s love for Aussie Rules — particularly the West Coast Eagles — rivals even the most passionate supporters, with fantasy footy one of his favourite pastimes. In 2024, he finished 24th overall, with the hat to prove it.
Cricket is not far behind. Over the years, he has spent time with both Bayswater-Morley and Bedford-Morley, reflecting a long-standing connection to the game.
This included captaining the 6th grade side to a premiership in 2020/21 at Waltham Reserve.
Shaun is a long-term husband to Tania and a proud father to Sarah and Daniel.
Family has always been a grounding influence, shaping his values, perspective and approach to long-term decision-making.
That same sense of responsibility carries through into how he builds relationships and supports clients, with a focus on stability, trust and taking a considered long-term view.
While finance is a serious business, Shaun brings a sense of humour to his work, often with a Monty Python reference or a well-timed 12th Man quote.
